Friday the 8th and track cleaned, glued and ready for early arrivals practice at 3pm to welcome racers from across the UK and overseas guys from Sweden and Portugal. The track got some running on the Friday as everyone settled in to set up pit areas and get comfortable for the coming weekend.
Saturday saw 18 keen racers for the event with the usual format of Saloon Production G12 practice, qualifying (with James breaking the qualifying track record for the class, taking TQ with Richy, Graeme, Gavin and Simme hot on his heals. Race format was 6 x 4 minute segments win from any final with James coming out a clear winner, Richy 2nd and Gavin and Simme battling for 3rd place in the closing stages.
The afternoon then progressed with Open G12 Sports practice and qualifying with James once again hitting The TQ spot, followed by Eurosport practice.
Sunday and time for the fast stuff !. Open G12 was looking good with James Tq’ing the evening before, and again breaking last years TQ in a 3.244 with Richy and Gavin hot on his heels . After the usual Open G12 sports warm up session the racing began with the C final then up..
The A final saw a turn around during the race with Richy taking the win and James and Gavin fighting hard for second place with only 23 parts between them at the end of a 24 minute Race.
And so to the quickest event of the weekend Eurosport. In Quali 5 drivers clocked lap times better than 3 seconds but once again James found THE lap at 2.809 , yet another track record for the class, with Gavin close behind on 2.871. Needless to say the racing was fast and furious with some racers not making the distance or stopping to fix gears etc. The top final saw James consistently the quickest and as the segements unfolded, gaining his lead on the field, with the added excitement of watching the dice for second place between Martin and Richy finishing just 15 parts between then after 24 minutes.
